Welcome
to the Vein Clinic website. The latest research suggests that between one in two and one in three adults suffer from chronic venous insufficiency - the underlying cause of varicose veins, venous eczema, and contributory to many other conditions such as leg ulcers, swelling or aching legs as well as thread veins. A vein clinic is a specialist centre that investigates and treats people with all venous conditions: - thread veins - varicose veins - venous eczema - swollen or itching legs due to venous reflux problems - deep-vein thrombosis - thrombophlebitis - lipodermatosclerosis - leg ulcers Although this may look a diverse group of conditions, they are all related in that they are all due to the veins in the legs not working properly. The Whiteley Clinic is an internationally renowned vein clinic with its main research, teaching and development centre in the Guildford clinic and a London clinic in Harley Street. The Whiteley Clinic was set up by Mr Mark Whiteley following his introduction of keyhole surgery for veins into the UK in 1999. Mark and his team have continued to stay at the forefront of new vein surgery, winning prizes, publishing research and inventing new operations.
